The dazzling white sand of the Bidderosa Oasis will suddenly appear before you after a long road framed by junipers, pines, and holm oaks. The Bidderosa Oasis has nothing to envy the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Smeralda.
It feels like a place out of this world, but in reality, it exists, and indeed it is the Bidderosa Oasis: five dreamy coves nestled in an 860-hectare park, largely comprised of woods and Mediterranean scrub, protected by the Forestry Authority and entrusted to the Municipality of Orosei, 13 kilometers to the north.
Access by car and motorcycle is limited from May to the end of October. There are no seasonal restrictions for bicycles or on foot, but regulations must be followed to preserve this peaceful haven surrounded by greenery.
On a hiking excursion, you’ll immerse yourself completely in the reserve: you’ll admire the expanse of greenery, artistic granite reliefs, and centuries-old junipers nestled along the white shores. Or you can swim there across the short stretch of sea from the neighboring Cala Ginepro (to the south): at low tide, the water is one meter deep.
The first beach of the oasis is four kilometers from the entrance, and gradually you’ll find the other four, all about a kilometer long, up to the northern border represented by another postcard paradise: the splendid Bèrchida beach, in the Siniscola area.
Fine white sand, sea lilies, and exposed granite rocks characterize the five coves: an enchanting and peaceful landscape, scented by vegetation and lapped by crystal-clear, shallow waters. You’ll swim and snorkel in waters of constant depth even dozens of meters from the shore.
You’ll also find Mount Tuttavista, covered in cork oaks and holm oaks, and Fuile ‘e Maree and Senna ‘e Sachita, covered in Aleppo and pine trees, where you’ll find tables for picnics and relaxation during the hottest hours. Eucalyptus trees, junipers, and Mediterranean plants will welcome you at the end of the dirt path leading to the coves, which winds through the pine forest and skirts the Sa Curcurica (Pumpkin) lagoon, populated by resident and migratory birds, which you can observe from birdwatching posts.
Nearby is Mount Urcatu: from the summit, you’ll see kilometers of well-maintained trails and clean beaches. Bidderosa is the pearl of Orosei, a renowned tourist destination boasting, among other dream beaches, Cala Liberotto, Cala Ginepro, Marina di Orosei, and Cala Osalla, on the border with Dorgali.
